A product studio in Aotearoa New Zealand

We build a few things.
We build them properly.

Nimble Hive Studios is the small team behind Connect51, Dimpkin, and one more project still taking shape — each one built for a real reason, maintained long after launch day, and never padded out with a feature nobody asked for.

Independently owned. No investors to report to.
How the hive works

One small studio. A handful of sharp teams.

Nimble Hive isn't a big agency, and it isn't a portfolio built to flip. We start a product only when we're confident we want to run it for years — then we give it its own name, its own voice, its own small team, and hold it to one shared standard.

Small on purpose

We'd rather build two things well than five things adequately. Every product in the hive has a small, direct team behind it — no committees, no hand-offs, no headcount growth for its own sake.

Built to last, not to exit

Nothing here is designed to be flipped. We maintain what we ship, fix what breaks without being asked twice, and say no to features that only look good in a pitch deck.

No ad-funded products

If we ever need your attention to be the thing we sell, we've built the wrong product — as true for a research platform serious institutions rely on as it is for a small pocket companion kids carry around.

Why a hexagon

“A hexagon encloses more space with less material than any other shape that tiles a flat plane without gaps — mathematicians call it the honeycomb conjecture, and it took until 1999 to formally prove what bees have always built by instinct. It's not a bad description of how we'd like to work: no wasted material, no wasted motion, nothing built bigger than it needs to be.”

“A hive doesn't ask every bee to forage the same flower. It only asks that each one brings something back.”
— which is roughly how we think about Connect51 and Dimpkin, too.
What's in the hive

Three cells, three different stages.

A cell in a honeycomb gets built in stages — drawn out first, filled next, and capped only once it's finished and sealed. That's a fairer way to describe where each of our products actually is than pretending they all launched on the same day.

in the hive

Something's taking shape.

Our third product is still early: real work under way, no name yet, and further along than a sketch on a whiteboard. When there's something worth showing you, it'll get its own name, its own voice, and its own place in the hive. We're not going to dress it up as more than it is before then.
